Amorepacific Group launched the makeup your Life initiative in 2008, and subsequently rolled out the campaign across various Asian countries, with Singapore launching in 2017. This is Amorepacific’s first global corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign and is currently executed across six countries and regions, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam and with Thailand scheduled to join in this year as well. Between 2008 and 2017, this campaign has benefited 14,040 female cancer patients and involved 5,241 volunteers from the company.

When undergoing cancer treatments like chemotherapy, many cancer patients often encounter a variety of skin reactions which can range from mild to severe in intensity. At this workshop, cancer patients are educated on the effects of chemotherapy on their skin, how to care for skin, as well as tips on makeup application. With empowerment of skills, the patients can understand how to take better care of their skin to enhance their confidence as they return to social or work life.

“Through makeup your Life, Amorepacific hopes to add a little colour to the lives of female cancer patients by helping them to restore confidence through sharing tips on how to care for their skin and enhance their features,” says Lysan Chew, General Manager of Amorepacific Singapore. “This is not just a one day event, but rather a collective effort by participating parties to do their part to help cancer patients lead a more beautiful life.

This is the second year that Amorepacific Singapore has partnered NCCS on this campaign. “Our patients were very happy after the workshop. They really appreciated the expert makeup tips that catered specifically to the common skin problems encountered during cancer treatment. Many also said that meeting fellow cancer survivors and sharing their stories made them feel less alone and overwhelmed. Such emotional and practical support goes a long way to boosting confidence and helping in our patients’ journey back to health!” says Dr. Veronique Tan, Senior Consultant in the Division of Surgical Oncology, NCCS, and Head of SingHealth Duke-NUS Breast Centre.

The makeup your Life campaign is part of a ’20 by 20′ initiative by Amorepacific, which represents its commitment to beautifying the lives of 200,000 women by contributing to their health, wellbeing and economic development. Operated mainly in Korea and China, this initiative aims to contribute to reducing the mortality rate of female cancer and in improving the lives of female cancer patients. In these regions, the initiative extends to preventive education and screening measures to funding surgery for women who fall within the low-income group.
